Robert E. Hampson

Dr. Robert E. Hampson is a scientist, educator and author. His research involves how memory is formed, stored, and recalled in animal and human brain. He is working with Braingrade, Inc. to turn the research into a medical device to treat Alzheimer's Disease. As a professor of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neurology, he teaches medical and graduate students in the field of neuroscience. He consults with companies and authors on brain science and teaches public communication skills to young scientists. His work has been covered by international news outlets, including TV, internet and print, and in the documentary Life 2.0 ("Episode 8: Mastering Memory") by Steve Rotfield Productions. After nearly forty years turning Science Fiction into Science, he decided that he wanted to try turning Science into Science Fiction, for a change. Fifteen nonfiction essays, twenty-five short stories, four novels and two anthologies later, he is now known for both his fiction and nonfiction writing. He has written science essays and short stories for Baen Books, and is co-editor of Stellaris: People of the Stars (with Les Johnson) and The Founder Effect (with Sandra L. Medlock), for Baen as well. His has also written short and long fiction for the Four Horsemen Universe (Chris Kennedy Publishing) including the Wrogul's Oath novels (co-authored with Chris Kennedy, Sandra L. Medlock, and Casey Moores) and a solo novel The Human Side. His "next big novel" is The Moon and the Desert (2023) with Baen Books. Dr. Rob is a member of SIGMA – the Science Fiction Think Tank and the Science and Entertainment Exchange (a service of the National Academy of Sciences).
